On Tuesday, October 27, 1997, hundreds of New Yorkers gathered at a funeral to pay tribute to one of the legends of the Hudson river. Henry Gourdine, who has fished the Hudson River for more than seventy years, died on October 20th, at the age of 95.
Last year Henry was the recipient of a special award presented to him by John Kennedy, Jr., in recognition of his dedication to preserving the art and tradition of fishing on the Hudson River. As a final salute to Henry Gourdine a message from Governor Pataki was read at his funeral.
Henry’s son, Harry, and grandson, Norman attended the Gourdin-Gourdine family reunion in Virginia Beach last August. Our belated condolences to Henry’s family.
