| Milton M. Holland, Orderly Sergeant, Company B, 5th USCI.
On his own initiative, Holland recruited a company of men from Athens, Ohio, to serve in
one of the Massachusetts regiments. Instead, Holland lead his men in developing a new Ohio
regiment and went on to win a Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery in a battle near
Richmond, Va. Fredericks captures Holland's spirit in Thoughts of Home and God
and the sergeant's reverence for his men.
