Rally on the Colors
| A depiction of the historic Battle of Olustee, Fla., on February 20, 1864, involving the most famous colored regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer
Infantry. The objective, an order directly from President Abraham Lincoln, was to
"reconstruct a loyal state government in Florida." The 54th was ready and primed
for aggressive battle against the Confederate line despite steady and severe musketry
fire. By the time every other organization had retired from the field, the 54th stood alone, despite their many dead and injured.
