Master pencil artist John A. Nelson is a native of Washington, D.C. Mr. Nelson has worked as a pencil artist for more than 20 years and is completely self-taught. His style is marked by extremely detailed renderings that capture moods and emotions of his subject. Mr. Nelson's drawings are personal in nature and come alive with a three-dimensional effect.
Mr. Nelson has created more than 50 original works and exhibited nationally, including at the White House Executive Office Building, Howard University, the New York Corporate Office of AT&T Corp., the Maryland State House in Annapolis, George Washington University and George Mason University. Additionally, Mr. Nelson has created an in-store promotional poster for McDonald's Corp.
Mr. Nelson has completed three art works in a series for Black Camisards -- The Price of Freedom, If These Eyes Could Speak and Maj.Martin R. Delany.
