Nathan Jones is truly a Master Artist whose extraordinary talents has been recognized for many years. His first museum show was at the Midland Museum of the Fine Arts, in January 1975, as early as 1960, his works were exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts.
The University of Texas, from which he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree bestowed the first Outstanding Alumnus Award of the School of Fine Arts upon him. He is also the youngest and the first in the field of fine arts to receive this award.
Nathan is one of the early artist to recognize black U.S. soldiers who served during the 19th century. Having created several paintings of Buffalo Soldiers, he turned his attention to conflict that greatly affected blacks in America. His painting of 84th United States Colored Troops.
